Phone Police Scotland on 101 or report online, and keep the incident number. Advice Direct Scotland can guide you on the consumer side. If the platform claimed FCA authorisation, check the FCA warning list; clones of real firms are common. Keep bank statements, chat exports, and every transaction hash.
A Scottish police report documents the crime. It does not freeze coins at an offshore exchange. That is a different instrument, and it is the one this desk exists for.
What the Swiss file does
When Bitcoin, ether or USDT still sits at a custodial exchange, a Swiss civil injunction, backed by a forensic report tying your hashes to a hosted wallet, can ask a court to lock those coins. A support ticket creates a case number. An injunction creates a freeze. A freeze is a lock, not a payment.
Three steps, no drama. Trace the hops from your hashes. Freeze at a venue that still holds a balance. Repatriate to a bank account you control, in pounds or euros, never to a wallet someone else names. The fee is 12.5 percent, invoiced only after that bank credit. No recovery, no fee.
The second chancer
Scots are targeted twice: once by the platform, once by the recovery room that phones afterwards knowing exactly what you lost. Victim lists are sold as stock. The caller may sound Edinburgh, may sound London, may claim a Swiss office. Ask for a surname you can find on a cantonal register. That question ends most of these calls.
